Mission Statement
Spaniels in the Field & Flushing Retrievers
(SITFFR Foundation)
Spaniels in the Field & Flushing Retrievers (SITFFR) is
a not-for-profit foundation. We are dedicated to the support
and preservation of all the traditional flushing gun dog
breeds. This includes the most popular breeds – Labradors.
We are focused on conservation ethic and educating the public,
especially youth for a healthy environment. Our mission
will be realized through print and electronic media as well
as events that invite and engage youth into the sporting
life we enjoy. Through the love and wisdom we hold for our
gundogs, we aim to pass our wing shooting heritage onto
future generations, along with the wild environment these
dogs need to continue their evolution. We are partnering
with other organizations that support education and conservation
for a healthier planet.
Our acronym- SITFFR- pronounced “SIT
FAR,” provides a visual image of perhaps a great grandchild
of your own, hunting afield, with a flushing retriever sitting
by their best friend’s side, the two of them on the
same quest. Apart they would fail woefully, but together
they are formidable. We envision the flushing retriever
of the future, out pursuing natural, genetic instinct in
a sustainable green environment.
Central to our mission is the love we hold
for our gundogs. This love is unique beyond what pet owners
everywhere experience in terms of the loving relationships
they have with their dogs. While we also have relationships
with our gun dogs as pets, our flushing retrievers are also
working dogs and we are partners afield. Our foundation
seeks to preserve all of the traditional flushing retriever
breeds into the future, so our grandchildren and great grandchildren
are also able to experience the sporting life partnership
we have with our gun dogs. This is the nexus of SITTFR.
Beyond passing our hunting heritage onto the next generation,
we aim specifically to preserve and pass on our tradition
of hunting with flushing retrievers.
Kind regards,
Scott Winston
