Dog Portraits by Pamela Hall

The William Secord Gallery is pleased to present Pamela Hall’s first New York solo exhibition. This exhibition and sale includes over twenty-five paintings depicting Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Cairn Terriers, Bulldogs, Clumber Spaniels, English Setters, Foxhounds, Norwich & Norfolk Terriers, Pointers, Pugs, Springer Spaniels, and West Highland White Terriers, to name a few. Renowned for her depiction of the effects of light, each dog is depicted in a domestic interior.

A passionate lover of animals, Hall developed an interest in canine portraiture in yearly childhood. She had her first solo show in the first grade and by the age of ten sent her sketches to her favorite equine illustrator, Paul Brown. His encouragement prompted her to pursue a career as a painter. Hall began her formal art education in high school with weekend classes at the Cleveland Institute of Art and completed a Bachelor of Science in Art Education at Ohio State University.

Hall continued to draw and paint and since 1990 has specialized in the depiction of dogs. She has completed numerous commissions for clients across America. Heretofore known to a select group of private collectors, Hall’s paintings are traditional depictions of our favorite pets inspired by the nineteenth century masters of the genre. Each is posed at home, with natural lighting, creating a luminescent, ethereal quality which captures the individual character of her sitters.
Pamela Hall is currently accepting new dog portrait commissions. Her work is exclusively represented by William Secord Gallery.
