SITFFR Mourns the Loss of Our Beloved Mascot, Sherlock

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Sherlock, our cherished SITFFR mascot dog.

Sherlock, a 19-month-old English Cocker Spaniel, was more than just a mascot — he was a joyful, intelligent, and loyal companion who captured hearts everywhere he went. Bred by Robin Fisher in Minnesota, Sherlock quickly became an essential part of our community with his obedience, charm, and beautiful character.

Tragically, Sherlock passed away after being exposed to rat poison spread across a public park by NYC city workers. This careless action put not only dogs but also children at risk.

We are heartbroken by this senseless loss. We believe public spaces should be safe for everyone — families, pets, and all members of the community.

Sherlock’s memory will live on at SITFFR, and we will honor him by continuing to advocate for responsible practices in our parks.

We miss him deeply.

Note from Robin Fisher:

People everywhere bring dogs to parks.   I can’t imagine what made them put rat poison out in a public place like that.

Curious dogs like english cockers will eat anything they come across! We live in a big resort community and we always tell people not to put mouse poison in cabins. It is too likely that a dog will get into the poison or  that cats and dogs will eat the mice that ate the poison and receive the poison second hand. The modern poisons don’t even have antidotes .  I am so sorry this happened to Kuni. I owned Sherlock (Decker)  before Kuni purchased him and he was a lovely dog. My family is also grieving his loss. If any of the folks  who own the sisters   to Sherlock end up getting them bred  I will let you know. I don’t know of any at the present time. His mother, Carmen is eight years old now.  She had three litters and all surviving pups were lemon roan in color. But she is spayed and I do not breed anymore. We also have a sled dog kennel  and have bred those for years.   I hope Kuni can find a wonderful new pup.  Robin S Fisher DVM
